Origin / Installation Instruction
Origin Installed at the Science Museum in London, 2002

Media: 5 minute DVD presentation (self looped)

Format: NTSC 16:9

Installation Choice A*: For an enclosed dark area

Hardware:
Player: DVD player with ‘S-Video’ and ‘Audio’ outlets
Amplifier: Audio system to be selected depending the size of space
Projector: High Contrast, 2000 ANSI Lumens or brighter, DLP Projector
Speakers: Selection depends on the size of space
Screen: (Optional)

Installation Suggestion:
To have the ceiling and wall painted with matte paint in deep gray or black.

Installation Choice B**: For an open area

Hardware:
Player: DVD player with ‘S-Video’ and ‘Audio’ outlets
Monitor: 40 inches or bigger, flat-screen Plasma Monitor (selection opens for higher quality, or advanced monitors which will be developed in the future)
Spackers: (Optional)

Installation Suggestion:

The best result for viewing would be to install the monitor inside of a dim space. The brand name and the structure of monitor should be hided behind the dry wall, which would leave only the screen area opened.
Same method would apply to the speakers.
A proper structure to support the weight of monitor would be constructed by a specialist.
For the best viewing/presentation effects, the dry wall around the screen prefer to be painted in between a light to medium tone, gray or subtle color, matte paint.

*Installation A had installed in ‘Cyber 99’ International Art Fair at CCB Center in Lisbon, 1999

**Installation B had installed in ‘Metamorphing’ at the Science Museum in London, 2002 (above), ‘Limbo Zone’ at Palazzo delle Prigioni, Venice Biennale, 2003 and ‘Metamorphosis’ at Kolar Art Center, Wisconsin, 2004.

The "Origin" animation was included in Ars Electronica 2005 (left) which installed at the Museum of the Future, in an elevator with a glass wall on one side, where the animation plays either in forward or backward while the elevator moves up or down...
