In October 2003, my friend Robert arranged for me to photograph pigs at a small farm in the southern countryside of China; a region called Liao-Bu. The farm had raised somewhere around 200 pigs, right next to a fish pond.
Besides collecting images, which I took with a Nikon D-100 digital camera, I also completed most of my concepts including custom-made outfit plus many reference shots of human models chosen from the local village.
I've got the concept of dancing pigs for a while already, which would be the main reason that brought me to China. The pigs dance as a means of temporary escape, in what I feel would be a very painful life for these hybrid animals.
